Who are these artists, how did you select them?
After nearly 1,100 music submissions and many months of sifting through every track submitted for this year's South Park Music Festival and lots of hard decisions, we've finally settled on the 100 artists who will be represented in this collection. This process has been tough. We've debated in the past about if it's impossible to truly judge a piece of music fairly. It's been made even tougher by the fact that there were so many quality artists that submitted for this Festival.

Unfortunately, there were a lot of really great artists that we couldn't offer showcases, including some bands that are among our favorites. We actually got a little depressed during the submission process. As submissions piled up, it became clear that for every artist that made the list, one would be left off. Then it got to where two would be left off, then three, four and so on. We could probably collect 100 artists who didn't make the "cut" and put on another festival that would be equal in quality to this one.

Despite the difficulties of the selection process, putting together this year's collection of independent artists has been one of the most rewarding things we've ever done. Its rewarding to listen to the final group and be floored by the quality of music being produced independently world-wide and right here in our backyard throughout the great state of Colorado. Finally, it's rewarding to know that so much vibrant music is being created independently and that this festival is part of that energy.

As you listen to these artists and select your favorites, keep in mind that this collection only represents one-tenth of the artists who submitted materials for consideration for this collection. This nation is full of talented and driven musicians who are writing songs, playing shows, and making records that are on par with anything you can find out there. We highly recommend that you use this Festival only as a jumping off point as you make your own personal exploration into the wonderful world of independent music.

Now that it's done, we have to thank everyone who submitted tracks, listened to tracks, or had any hand in this thing. This year's festival is going to be monumental.

Don't miss your chance to see these world-class artists before the rest of the world gets a hold of 'em.
